I recently had the pleasure of posing a few questions to Jeanne Reames, ancient history scholar and author of the brand new historical fiction novel Dancing with the Lion: Becoming which tells the story of a young Alexander the Great.

Listed as one of the New York Times’ Notable Books in 2017, The Lost City of the Monkey God tells the story of how a team of archaeologists, explorers, and filmmakers recently discovered the ruins of a complex civilization in a remote, deadly region of the Honduran rainforest.

At long last, I read Mary Renault’s famous historical novel The Persion Boy, the 2nd installment of her trilogy about Alexander the Great.

Multiple people have been recommending this book to me ever since it came out a couple of years ago. I remembered the book generating something of a buzz after author Reza Aslan, a regular on political news programs, had a run-in with a host on Fox News in 2013.
